For the first time Hut 2 Hut brings you the Oscars 100 Team Relay.
This new event is limited to a maximum of 20 teams made up of three participants each. This is a great way to experience the epic-ness of the Oscars 100 course without the pressure of having to do it all.
Leg 01 begins at the start line and takes in the amazing ascent of Mt Buller, as the sun rises, and the challenging descent down 4 Mile, all the way to the valley floor. From here, you've got 6 river crossing before you hit the never-ending climb up 8 Mile and The Bluff. Conquer those and you've got some easy (ha,ha) kms along the 4WD trail to Lovicks Hut where you hand over to the next runner in your team.
Distance - Approx 38km
Ascent - Approx 2,238m
Cut off time - 1.00pm Friday 20th Feb (8 hours)
Leg 02 leaves Lovicks Hut by 1.00pm. This stunning section of the course takes you up the AAWT which you'll follow all the way to Mt Spec. During Leg 02 you'll ascend Mt Magdala and Mt Howitt on your way to one of Australia's most spectacular drop boxes at Gantner Hut. As you leave Gantner Hut you'll be containing your excitement as you head towards Cross Cut Saw. A 7km section of the course that has arguably the most stunning views in the country. Along with that you also have the grinding ascents of Mt Buggery and Mt Speculation. From Mt Spec you'll travel along the 4WD track for a few kms before you hit your final challenge of Muesli Spur. Some love it, some hate it. Having conquered all of that you head to King Huts where your journey ends and the next runners takes over.
Distance - Approx 35km
Ascent - Approx 2482
Cut off time - 9.00pm Friday 20th Feb (8 hours)
Leg 03 leaves Kings Hut by 9.00pm. It's time for the final push to the finish line with leg three taking in one of the most iconic mountain hut in Australia. You'll push straight up hill from Kings Hut and you travel via Pete's Corner on the way to Craigs Hut. Stopping to have a quick sticky beak at this iconic hut you'll then make you way up the toughest 4WD road on the course all the way to Mt Stirling. From there you'll run your way down to Howqua Gap Hut, grab a cheese toastie, and head back over to Mt Buller. Some twisty, turney mountain bike trail, a push up the ski slopes and you're on your way back up to the Buller Summit. From there its smooth sailing back down to the finish line.
Distance - Approx 27km
Ascent - Approx 1789

Moving around the course
The Oscars 100 course is difficult to navigate around. If you're planning on driving your own team, or spectators, to the checkpoints or change over points be aware you will need a proper off-road 4WD. Not an SUV or AWD vehicle, but a proper 4WD. Some of the access road to the checkpoints are 4WD only so we don't want you getting stuck or lost.
As part of your entry fee we offer to drive the runner of leg 02 out to Lovicks Hut and return the runner of leg 01 back to Buller. We will also drive the runner of leg 03 to Kings Hut and return the runner of leg 02 to Buller. We will only have the ability to transport runners in the afore mentioned scenarios due to the logistical challenge of moving runners around the course (It will take the use of five 4WDs to move runners around the course).
All relay leg runners will be transported, and returned, at the same time so for some teams that may mean some waiting around. But don't worry, you'll be waiting in two of the best checkpoints on the course.
Again, you are welcome to arrange your own transport, but cut off times apply even if you get lost or stuck. If you do use your own transport you will need to be self sufficient when driving. The event organisers won't have the time or resource to rescue you if you get stuck.
